I have just bought one of the TV's and it is amazing. I can't quite see how S. Ginsberg gives it only one star when he hasn't even tried one - Works perfect in 3D through the PS3! Bluray is fantastic on it as is the Freeview HD. TV also looks fantastic with it's black and clear surround. You wouldn't know it's an LCD when watching it - I don't personally think the LED's are worth the extra cash.

Internet works well although I'm not sure how much I'll use it as the PS3 also has iPlayer built in. The Love Film app lets you stream films if you are a member.

I also like the fact that the built in planner lets you record programs to either a memory stick or HDD eliminating the need for a PVR!

All in all, I would highly recommend this TV.

This is my first thin TV as I have just replaced my 36" Philips 100hz Pixel Plus CRT TV! After a lot of shopping around, I ended up buying this from John Lewis for £1199 because of their free delivery and 'free' 5 year guarantee (as I ordered it before seeing it in a store)! All in all, I am quite happy with my purchase, i was a little annoyed when i unboxed the TV to discover it IS an LCD TV as such; its not LED; is not as thin as an LED TV or have any of the LED backlight features (despite the images on samsung website and other websites)!

The 3D TV feature only works when watching through 1.4 HDMI or SCART connections ( it has 3 actual SCART connectors, not the mini SCART you get with Samsung LED TVs), the 2D to 3D conversion is good because as the previous review says, it does add depth to the images and make them stand out from their backgrounds but not actually jump out from the screen which was a little disappointing! The other 2 functions are for whether the image is being shown next to each other or on top of eachother as you get on Youtube 3D.... which leads me on to my next issue, 3D TV functionality does not work with Internet functions, so no 3D content via youtube or via USB (external media).

The internet functionality is good though, you have lovefilm (not tried yet) and youtube which is pretty good with no lag and all the content, (i connected ethernet cable directly opposed to buying the dongle). There are also google maps (without streetview); facebook which follows a different interface to any other device ive experienced, twitter amongst numerous samsung applications/games to enjoy too. The function also allows multiple users to login via passwords so the entire household can access their respective accounts opposed to using just the one! Also the remote is used as keyboard through numbers (i'd compare it to sending texts from an old chunky nokia). Could of done with actual internet functionality though; google search and browsers etc.

As for actual 3D via samsung blu ray 3d surround system = AMAZING! Compared to Samsung Series 7 LED 3DTV its almost as bright but its certainly as sharp, the blacks arent as black as the LED blacks but i didnt experience any pixelation or double images (seeing double through the 3D specs). Not enough 3D content on the market just yet but im hoping to link the PS3 and enjoy 3D media playback (not tried it yet, but hope it works when its launched)!

As for sound, this has the downward facing speakers that are certainly louder than the LED TV speakers ive tested on other Samsung's. I bought the 3d blu ray surround sound anyway!

It has 2 USB slots on the back which ive used to link up my external hard drives; plays back music, pictures and video (.avi and .mkv) through a very friendly interface with no problems whatsoever other than cant play back 3D media.

So why should you buy this 40" LCD HD TV with 3D TV and Internet functionality - Its 200hz, produces stunning HD playback through freeview hd as well as Sky HD, its got some decent internet functions, 3D playback is as good as LED TVs. It may not be as thin when looking at it from the side but its certainly £500 to £750 cheaper than the 3D LED TV sets on the market.

Note: You dont get any 3D specs with the TV but you if you go to samsung connect you can get a free pair through redeeming supplied voucher code.

Don't forget to order your free pair of 3D glasses through the Samsung Connect website.
